Life Through Movement Conference Accommodation and Transport

Dear Biokineticists

With the upcoming "Life Through Movement" Conference to held in Potchefstrom from 27 to 29 September 2012 (http://www.ltmic.co.za/), GBA has decided to assist national delegates with transport and accommodation.

The reason for this was to reduce costs for delegates through a local (Gauteng based) group booking contact.

The plan would be for delegates for the conference to be accommodated in Johannesburg (within close proximity to the airport / Gautrain) and then for group transport to and from Potchefstroom each day (2 hour drive one way).

We would also like to take advantage of the networking opportunity and organize some evening entertainment for us to get to know each other a little better.

Obviously for this to be viable, we would need a critical number of people.

The plan would be for GBA to organize the following:

  • Group accommodation in Johannesburg
  • Transport from Johannesburg to Potch and back on the 27th, 28th and 29th
  • Transfers / information on the Gautrain
  • Evening entertainment / dinner on the evening of the 28th
If you wish to be included in the costings of this, please could you contact us at gautengbio@gmail.com so we can factor you in and create a viable budget.

Once we have an idea of numbers, we will put together the plan and cost.

Warm regards

Tony Paladin

Finances:
Healthy state of WPBA, surplus of +R 17,000.

b. Paying the chairman for work done

Blog:
Explained by Neil Hopkins. Went through each of the pages and the content.
Drew attention the seeking and offering employment page and the new email address for employment/classifieds: wpbaclassifieds@gmail.com
Need a link to our website from the BASA website. Chairman will contact BASA regarding this
Need a page on the blog devoted to codes and tariffs specifically as it is a well searched topic, particularly the combinations thereof that are permissible.
Chairman to look into whether we can get a link to Discovery Documents on WPBA Blog also. However this will be difficult as they are already password protected on BASA site.

Facebook:
Facebook page was also developed. Will be updated with information as the blog is.

Requirements for nominations.
a. Must be a BASA member
b. Get involved
c. Can run for more than one portfolio (except for Chair and Vice Chair)

BASA Strategy Mtg Feedback:
Expectations of BASA were reviewed with the members
Members feel that there should be Financial Transparency
That BASA should be the voice to HPCSA and that there should be regional involvement in those meetings.
That BASA should actively be advertising Biokinetics and the profession.
Dealing with the Bio vs. Personal Trainer issue.
Considering the saturation of areas with Bios
What is the progress of standardization of bios education?

Suggestions:
Members feel that when the regions apply for accreditation for courses that there should be no internal fee particularly if there is financial benefit for the members attending (i.e. no registration fees)
Free courses during the year (i.e 3 per year)- use the funds from WPBA
Offer free case studies to members on the blog
Need a stand at SASMA to promote Biokinetics
Need to consider advertising at all major conventions and conferences to doctors/personal trainers/ physios/ bios/etc.
Need a locum list on the blog

Suggestions for CPD material:
Pharmaceuticals and Exercise
Refresher of new exercises
Strapping with KT Tape- Avinesh Pursad has a contact for it.
